Years 10 and 11
Citizenship
Students have two pieces of coursework.
Coursework A is an evaluation of participation and responsible action in school and/or community. Structured response of no more than 800 words.
Coursework B is a critical commentary, of no more than 800 words, on two contrasting sources of information of the student’s choice.
The Deadline for complete submission of coursework will be Monday January 30th. This will enable students to receive feedback in early February before their final piece is submitted for marking.

Year 10
Art
Homework: Tate modern follow up work… to tidy up drawings done on the visit, stick in postcards of other artists' work and write about each drawing done why they liked it, and describe the work in detail. Then paint the front cover of their sketchbook in the style of one of the paintings seen in the Tate. Paint the front cover of their sketchbooks based on a painting seen in the Tate Modern, or the internet site for the tate modern. Joseph Cornell style Box Art project including the box made, pen sketch, tonal painting and mixed media panel. Cubist style still life painting/pastel. Sketchbook work … critical studies research, 5 drawing homeworks.

Business
After the Unit 3 examination in January, pupils will spend a few weeks improving the unit 1 Bannatyne / Sainsbury course work completed at the end of year 9. Then, they will start the unit 2 course work about Nike. The course work is equivalent to the Bannatyne / Sainsbury unit and is expected to be around 30 pages.

Students create a plan, spreadsheet, database, newsletter, powererpoint and review around setting up a local Make Space club (youth club)

Engineering
Unit 1 (Design Module) to be completed and handed in for assessment and external moderation. The coursework is an A4 folder comprising drawings and analysis pertaining to the design of a cycle camping trailer. Due date 15th March.

French
Students are working towards a listening and a reading examination in the summer term and they will be set a reading paper every 2 weeks for examination practice. On the other week they will be set a list of vocabulary to learn to be tested the following week.

GCSE PE
Students have completed their PEP and are now working towards finishing the theory syllabus before revision tasks until the end of the course. Practical grades and Analysis of Performance now need to be completed and finalised before March.

German
Students are working towards a listening and a reading examination in the summer term and they will be set a reading paper every 2 weeks for examination practice. On the other week they will be set a list of vocabulary to learn to be tested the following week.

Literacy
During the spring term, students will need to complete 2 pieces of coursework. The first piece will be about War Poetry, and will involve an analysis of poems and the poets who wrote them. The second piece will involve students writing an 'Inform, Explain, Describe' piece of writing. Students will also be required to complete an oral piece of coursework

Media Studies
The first half of the term will require students to complete a piece of coursework as an in-depth analysis of the Wallace and Gromit film, 'A Close Shave'. The majority of the work will be done in class but students will have to complete the coursework assignment in their own time to hand in after half term.

Numeracy
There is one piece of coursework that needs to be completed by students, which is a Number Stairs project. This is an investigation assignment.

Performing Arts
The Unit 1 (Opportunities in Performing Arts) exam takes place on January 18th, and students are expected to be revising for this exam during their personal time. Students who are not successful in passing this exam will resit it in the Summer exam period. It may be possible for students who do pass to resit the exam in order to attempt to achieve a higher grade, but this will depend on their commitments to other exams and courses, and of course on the result they achieve first time round. During the first half term, students will be working on Unit 13 - Performance Project. Students will be expected to rehearse for a performance to a target audience, both in lesson time and in their personal time. Unit 13 is a portfolio assessed unit and students will be expected to regularly complete portfolio work to demonstrate their progress in preparing for the performance. This unit will be completed towards the February half-term. After the February half-term students will be working on Unit 4 -Organising and Evaluating an Event. During this unit students will be expected to carry out a number of tasks in order to ensure that the event undertaken is a success. Some tasks will be carried out in lessons, some in students' personal time. The event itself will take place close to the Easter break. The work carried out for this unit will support students when they take the Unit 4 exam in the Summer exam period.

Product Design
Students are working through their coursework folder and will be completing one page a lesson and either gathering research or completing another page for homework. They will complete this folder in early September 2006.

Applied science

Art
A Sense of Place - Lino printing, mixed media abstract piece, critical study of an artist, own developmental ideas and A1 final piece. Homework tasks: 1..present summer homework about their choice of place onto A2 sheet including photos, drawing and collect pieces, then annotate what the place was like what was interestiong about it. 2.. Find an artist that represents a place in an interesting way, print off or photocopy a picture of their work and write about the artist's techniques, processes, the style and mood of the piece etc. 3..Paint (or other media if appropriate) a picture by that artist that you like (approx A3) and write what is interesting about the picture and what you have learned while doing it.

AS PE
Students are currently working on their PEP coursework both in lesson and for homework. We are also covering exam questions in the same way.

AS Business
Following the exam for Module 1 (Marketing and Accounting and Finance) on January 12th, students will then study two modules simultaneously. Module 2 is entitled 'People and Operations Management', whilst Module 3 covers 'External Influences and Objectives and Strategy'. Both of these modules are examined externally on June 5th. There is no coursework produced at AS.

Catering
Students are working towards their second Practical Assessment to take place in the latter half of the Spring term. This assessment counts 25 % of their total mark. Students are to ensure that the planning for this task and the evaluation of the task is completed to the best of their ability. Students are also encouraged to practise their chosen dishes at home. Sample questions will also be handed out for students to answer in preparation for their Theory Examination Paper being written in the Summer Term.

All required coursework for the D Science Specification. ( Min. 2 pieces) This includes all catch up work, all re-writes or fine tuning of work submitted. There will be opportunities after school to complete or repeat any coursework needed. The dates will be published in the New Year.

Health and Social Care
In January students will be working on Unit 3 which is exam preparation. They will be working in class on 'Understanding Personal development and Relationships'. They will be completing past papers as well.

Media Studies
During the first half-term of the Spring term students will be spending lesson time and personal time revising the coursework assignments they worked on in Year 10. These assignments will all be submitted before the February half-term. It is essential that this assignments are submitted punctually in order for them to be sent to the exam board. After half-term students will begin preparing for the Controlled Test which takes place in May, the subject of which is Children’s Comics.

History
Students have two assignments to complete. The first is an AO1 activity on Trotsky and Stalin. The second is an AO2 and AO3 activity on the death of the Romanovs, this assignment is based on source analysis. Students have to be asked to collect all necessary information on these areas and write plans for each of the questions. The coursework will then be written during January in lessons and for homework.
